Install a previous version

Go back to an earlier version of the app from the changelog when a new one causes trouble. Your settings, meetings and recordings are kept. A last resort.

Most update problems fix themselves: if a new version does not start, or keeps crashing in its first half hour, the app puts the previous version back by itself and does not offer that version again. Installing an older version by hand is the last resort, for when problems carry on after that.

When the app suggests it

After an update, if the automatic fixes have not helped (the app had to put the previous version back and problems carried on, it kept crashing after its first half hour, or errors kept coming back over several starts), Recent meetings shows Still having trouble? You can install a previous version. It never appears after a single error.

See previous versions opens the list on the website. Skip this version stops the app installing the version you are on (and anything older) again; updates carry on as normal when a newer version is released.

Roll back safely

  1. Stop the app updating straight back: click Skip this version in the suggestion, or turn off Install updates automatically in Settings > Help > About.
  2. Open the changelog and find Previous versions. Each release with a kept download has macOS and Windows links.
  3. Download the version you want for your computer.

On a Mac

  1. Quit Transcript Audio from the menu bar icon.
  2. Open the downloaded file and drag the app into Applications, then choose Replace.
  3. Open the app. macOS may ask for permissions again: see Permissions denied.

On Windows

  1. Quit Transcript Audio from the tray icon.
  2. Run the downloaded installer. It replaces the installed version for your account.
  3. Open the app from the Start menu.

Afterwards

When a newer version is released the app offers it again. If you turned off automatic updates, turn them back on in Settings > Help > About. If problems continue on every version, send us your logs so we can fix it.

Versions released before downloads were kept are not in the list. Only the latest version is on the download page.
