Rolling out to a team

Install Transcript Audio for several people: per-user installs, the first-run steps each person does, and what to tell them.

Last updated

Each person installs the app, signs in with their own account and allows recording on their own computer. There is no server to run and no meeting bot to approve.

Installing

On a Mac

  • The Mac app is a universal disk image for Apple silicon and Intel, for macOS 13 or later (14.2 or later recommended).
  • Install it in /Applications, or in the person's own ~/Applications folder. The app can only update itself if the person's account can write to the folder it is in, so for standard (non-admin) accounts ~/Applications keeps updates automatic.
  • The app is not notarised yet: each person allows it once in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway. See Download and install.
  • Privacy permissions (Microphone, System Audio Recording Only, and optionally Calendars and screen recording) are granted by each person in the setup guide.

On Windows

  • The Windows installer is a one-click, per-user install for 64-bit Windows 10 and 11. It needs no administrator rights and installs to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\transcript-audio.
  • It is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen asks once per installer file: More info > Run anyway.
  • Each person needs Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone > Let desktop apps access your microphone turned on. If your policies control it, allow it for these users.
  • Calendar naming reads classic Outlook. The new Outlook for Windows cannot be read.

What each person does

  1. Open the app and follow the setup guide: their name and work email, sign in, allow recording, choose how the AI works, choose the meetings folder.
  2. Make a short test call to check both sides are in the transcript.
  3. Read Record your first meeting.

Plans and computers

Each person needs their own account and plan. Each plan allows a set number of signed-in computers: see Your account and devices.
