System requirements

Transcript Audio runs on macOS 13 or later (Apple silicon and Intel) and on 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. It records on your computer, with no bot.

Transcript Audio is a desktop app for Mac and Windows. It records on your own computer, so there is nothing to add to your meetings and no bot joins the call.

Mac

  • macOS 13 Ventura or later. macOS 14.2 or later is best: it lets the app record the other side of the call with the lighter System Audio Recording Only permission.
  • Apple silicon (M1 or newer) or an Intel Mac. One download works on both.
  • A microphone (the built-in one is fine) and a working speaker or headphone output.

Windows

  • Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit (x64).
  • A microphone and a working speaker or headset output.
  • For video of meetings: Windows 10 version 1903 or later. Windows "N" editions also need the Media Feature Pack.

Everything else

  • An internet connection to sign in and for cloud AI. Recordings are kept if you are offline and processed when you are back online.
  • Free disk space for recordings: audio is small, video is about 1 GB an hour.
  • Transcribing on your own computer, and privacy optimised mode, are faster on newer hardware. Apple silicon Macs are much faster at this than Intel Macs.
  • A Transcript Audio account. The Free plan needs no card.
