How to record a Microsoft Teams meeting without a bot

Transcript.audio records a Microsoft Teams call from your own computer, so there is no bot to admit and nothing for the organiser to approve. It starts when Teams uses your microphone and writes a transcript and notes after the call.

How do I record a Teams meeting?

1. Install the app from the download page and work through the setup guide: sign in, allow recording and choose where to save meetings.
2. Leave Settings > Recording > When a call starts on Automatic (countdown, recommended), the default. Or choose Ask first, and you are asked Record this call? each time.
3. Join your Teams call as normal. Nothing is installed in Teams and nothing is added to the call.
4. After 10 seconds of microphone use a countdown shows in the menu bar or tray, then recording starts. Start now begins sooner and Don't record this call skips it.
5. Teams is one of the meeting apps the app knows by name, so recording can also stop a few seconds after the Teams call window closes.
6. When the call ends the recording stops by itself. A Recording saved notification appears, and a minute or two later Notes ready opens the meeting in Recent meetings.

Can the notes use the Teams meeting title?

The app can read your calendar on your own computer to name meetings after their events: Calendar on a Mac, and classic Outlook on Windows. It is optional. See Calendar. Without it, the AI names the folder from what was said.

Can I record only scheduled meetings?

Yes. Turn on Only record calls that are in my calendar in Settings > Recording (off by default). Calls with no calendar event at the same time are then skipped, and Start recording still records one on demand.
