A meeting was not recorded

Start with the first line of the menu bar or tray menu. It says what the app thinks is happening. Then work through these checks.

1. Check "When a call starts"

If the menu says Ready (automatic recording is off), When a call starts is set to Don't record (start it yourself). Choose Record automatically (countdown) or Ask first. In Ask first, nothing records unless you choose Record within a minute.

2. Check you are signed in and have meetings left

A Recording not started notification means you are signed out, have used your plan's meetings, or your account is already recording on another computer. See Settings > Account.

• In Settings > Recording, if What starts a recording is Meeting apps and meeting pages only, your call app may not be on the list. Choose Any app using the microphone, or add it under Also detect these apps.
• Check the app is not in Apps to ignore (under Advanced).
• If Only record calls that are in my calendar is on and the call had no calendar event, a Call not recorded notification appears. Turn it off, or use Start recording.

5. Did you stop a recording earlier in the same call?

After you stop a recording yourself, the app waits until the call ends before it records again. Use Start recording, or leave the call fully and rejoin.

6. "Meeting detection is not available"

It recorded, but there is no folder

A Short recording discarded notification means the call was shorter than 60 seconds. Lower Throw away very short recordings in Settings > Recording (0 keeps everything).

Why does it record when I don't want it to?

A dictation app, voice call or audio app started a recording? Add it to Apps to ignore, choose Meeting apps and meeting pages only, or switch to Ask first. Still stuck? Send us your logs.
