Folder names and timestamps

How meeting folders are named: by the AI after the notes are written, or by your own pattern with title, contact, date, time and app.

Last updated

While a meeting records, its folder is named after the calendar event (or the meeting app) plus the date and time. Once the notes are written, it is renamed. Choose how in Settings > Saving > Folder names.

Let AI name it (recommended)

  • The default. The AI names the folder from the summary, the calendar event, the meeting app and the date.
  • Instructions for the AI (optional): up to 300 characters, for example "Start with the other person's name, then the topic". Left blank, it uses a short topic title, or the calendar event title when there is one.
  • Always add the date and time at the end (on by default): the app adds them itself, so folders stay unique and sort by date.

Use a pattern

Type a layout, or click the tokens to add them. The default {title} - {date} {time} gives names like Project kickoff - 2026-10-18 14-30.

TokenWhat it adds
{title}A short topic title, or the calendar event title.
{contact}The other person's name, when the meeting states it. Left out (with its dash) when it does not.
{date}The meeting date.
{time}The start time.
{app}The meeting app, for example Zoom.
{me}Your name (Settings > Recording), or your user name on this computer.

Date format: 2026-10-18, 18-10-2026, 18 Oct 2026 or Oct 18 2026. Time format: 14-30, 1430 or no time. The Example: line shows what a folder would be called.

Good to know

  • Times are your local time. Characters that Windows or macOS do not allow in file names are removed.
  • If a name is taken, the app adds " (2)", " (3)" and so on.
  • If the AI cannot name a folder, the app uses {title} - {date} {time}.
  • If you renamed a folder yourself before the notes were done, your name is kept.
  • Names in folder names can be seen by anyone with access to the folder or its backups. Put the other person's name in meeting folder names in Settings > Privacy is off by default.
