Refund Policy

Draft, pending legal review
This document is a draft template and has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. It may change before Transcript Audio launches.
Summary
Cancel during a free trial and you pay nothing. If Transcript Audio is not right for you after you start paying, ask within 14 days of your first payment and we will refund it in full. This policy does not affect your statutory rights.
Free trial
If you cancel during your free trial, you are not charged anything. You can cancel in one click from your account page, the billing portal or the app, and we remind you by email before the trial ends.
Your legal right to cancel (UK consumers)
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, consumers who buy digital services online normally have 14 days to cancel. For Transcript Audio this 14-day cooling-off period runs from the start of your paid subscription (the first charge, which is the end of the free trial if you had one).
Because the service continues straight away, we ask you to agree that it can carry on immediately and to acknowledge that you lose the statutory right to cancel once it has started. Where you have not given that agreement, you can still cancel within 14 days, and we may deduct a proportionate amount for the service provided before you told us.
Our 14-day goodwill refund
Whatever the statutory position, we offer a full refund of your first payment if you ask within 14 days of that payment. This applies once per customer.
Monthly billing
After the first payment, monthly renewals are not refunded, but you can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the month you have paid for.
Yearly billing
Your first yearly payment is covered by the 14-day goodwill refund. If you forget to cancel before a yearly renewal, ask within 14 days of the renewal date and we will refund it in full, provided you have not recorded any counted meetings since the renewal. After that, cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the end of the paid year.
If something is wrong
If the Service is faulty or not as described, you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including repair or replacement and, in some cases, a price reduction or refund. Please tell us so we can put it right.
How to ask for a refund
- Email support@transcript.audio from the address on your account, with “Refund request” in the subject.
- Tell us which plan and, if you like, why (it helps us improve, but you do not have to).
- We will confirm within 3 working days and refund the amount in US dollars to your original payment method through Stripe. Banks usually take 5–10 working days to show it.
When a refund is made, the plan ends and your account moves to Free.
