Privacy optimised mode

Make transcripts and notes on your own computer, so audio never leaves it. Available on every plan. What to expect and how to turn it on.

Last updated

In privacy optimised mode, transcripts and notes are made on your computer. Audio never leaves it. It is available on every plan. More on the privacy mode page.

Turn it on

Choose Privacy optimised, on this computer in the setup guide, or Privacy optimised under How should the AI work? in Settings > AI.

What to expect in privacy optimised mode

  • Slower processing on older laptops.
  • A large one-off model download (about 1 to 5 GB).
  • Notes a bit less polished than premium cloud models.
  • More battery use while notes are written.
  • The live transcript and answers in Questions as you go run on your computer too.

Private cloud fallback (optional)

Allow a private cloud fallback (text only) is off unless you turn it on. It is only used when your computer cannot run a local model: text only, never audio, goes through Transcript Audio cloud under zero-data-retention terms, so nothing is stored, and it stays in the UK or EU.

On a Mac

Apple silicon Macs run local models well. Intel Macs run on the processor only and can take longer than the meeting.

On Windows

A recent laptop processor works. Expect several minutes per 30-minute meeting; keep the laptop plugged in while notes are written.
